St Peters Church, Tandridge
Project type
Church
This year I’ve had the privilege of working with St Peter’s Church, Tandridge, exploring proposals to introduce a toilet and kitchenette within the building. Though modest in scale, this project is hugely significant for the parish- opening the door to a wider range of community use and enhancing the worship experience for many parishioners.
We’ve had a very positive early meeting with the DAC, and we’re hopeful that the design will continue to progress through 2026.
St Peter’s is a Grade I listed church and an extraordinary place to work. Its fabric spans from the 12th and 14th centuries, with later contributions by George Gilbert Scott, making it a layered and deeply important heritage asset.
The churchyard also holds a remarkable feature: a yew tree believed to be over 1,000 years old—likely predating the current church, and possibly even the earlier Saxon building once thought to stand on the site. A living witness to a millennium of worship.
