St Pauls Church, West Wycombe

Project type

Church

We began working with St Paul’s, West Wycombe in 2023, when we carried out the quinquennial inspection. Since then, we have continued to support the church through a programme of repairs and improvements, helping to care for this much-loved parish building.

Recent works have included securing consents and inspecting repairs to replace the cement render on the chancel with breathable lime render, allowing the building to perform as originally intended. We have also gained the necessary permissions to replace the vestry roof, alongside consents for a new shed within the church grounds. Further projects are underway, including a review of the altar aesthetics and proposals for a new path and handrail to improve access.

St Paul’s Church was built in 1875 to designs by J. W. Hugall of Oxford. Situated in the heart of the village, it has long been known as the winter church of the parish. Its companion church, St Lawrence’s—dramatically sited on the hill above—served as the summer church, though it is currently closed due to structural concerns.
