St Marys Church, Farleigh

Project type

Church

St Mary’s Church, Farleigh is a truly extraordinary Grade I listed building—one of the oldest churches still open for worship in Surrey. Believed to have been built in the late 11th century, it retains many remarkable Norman features, alongside later additions such as its 18th-century porch and Victorian bell cote.

In May this year, we carried out the Quinquennial Inspection, gaining a deep insight into the church’s condition. We’re now working closely with the parish on a series of carefully considered conservation projects, including re-roofing the vestry, replacing the shingles to the bell cote, and limewashing the external walls—all vital steps in conserving this historic building for generations to come.

St Mary’s is a peaceful, beautiful place, rich with history and continuity. A privilege to look after.
